Make this 2 way DIY Cake Stand Broken Clock Re-purposing. So versatile - cost a few cents

The wall clock that had kept us on time whilst living in our last three homes, stopped.

We encouraged it to get going, changed the batteries, gave it a gentle shake, all to no avail. The hands would not re-set, it was finished as a clock.

Then inspiration struck, I could make a pedestal cake stand out of it. I had seen others make stands with plates, so why not use the glass clock face. The clock is about 13 inches across so I would need a sturdy base to set it on.

I walked down the street to a charity shop and looked through the old crockery and glasses. Then I saw it a lovely bright green sturdy parfait glass.  Better still it only cost a couple of dollars.

Before I put the cake stand together I made use of the parfait glass because I liked it 🙂

Method for Re-purposing my Broken Clock

  1. On the top side of the glass clock face, sit the glass stand. Measure all around it making sure that it is in the center. When you have it just right draw around the base with the whiteboard marker.
  2. Turn the clock face over and put a line of glue just inside the whiteboard marker circle. (Follow gluing instruction on your glue)
  3. Place a ring of glue around the bottom of the base glass.
  4. After about 30 seconds place the two carefully together. When you are satisfied that it is just right use some pressure on it for a minute.
  5. Turn the stand the right way up and place it on a flat surface and gently put a weight on it, like a good-sized book.
  6. After about 12 hours it is all done and ready to display your fine cooking.
